In my previous post, I discussed self-love and ways to boost your confidence. Now, I want to share some practical ideas for things you can try from that list! Even to this day, I still struggle with staying confident at times and can feel awkward. I know many of you have experienced the same or dealt with a lack of confidence, so I’m committed to practicing what I preach. Let’s go through this journey together!
Let’s remind each other that our flaws shape who we are today. They make you, you, and you shouldn’t feel bad about that. You may not always feel loved, but you have no idea how much you’re truly loved and cared for.
What exactly is self-care, self-love, and self-confidence?
Self-care is the practice of nurturing oneself physically and mentally to maintain overall well-being. It involves not only changing what can be improved but also choosing happiness and accepting what cannot be changed.
Self-love is about embracing who you are, accepting yourself as an individual, and being confident in your worth. It’s important to understand that self-love is not about being cocky, conceited, selfish, or arrogant. Rather, it’s about being humble and showing respect for yourself.
Self-confidence is the belief in your own abilities and the courage to showcase them. It means trusting yourself without self-doubt. Self-confident people understand that they won’t be perfect in everything they do, but they still strive to succeed by focusing on their efforts rather than the opinions of others.

1. Develop new hobbies
Try something new that you’ve always wanted to do—you might be surprised by your hidden talents. Explore artistic skills like painting, drawing, poetry, or calligraphy. Try a new sport or enjoy one of your favorites. Buy some craft supplies and create something through knitting or sewing. Learn to play an instrument, or pick up a book to gain new knowledge. Take dance classes or learn how to dance at home. Capture moments with your photography skills or sing your heart out to your favorite music.
Engaging in hobbies helps you build confidence and improves your mental health. Dedicating time to your interests also helps you live fully in the present. And who knows? One of your hobbies might turn into your true passion! Remember, it’s okay if you’re not the best at something—what matters is doing what makes you feel comfortable, happy, and at peace.
2. Start a skincare routine
Buying products that may not always work for your skin can become expensive, especially when there are simple, effective alternatives right in your kitchen. Everyone has different skin types—whether normal, dry, oily, sensitive, or a combination. You can easily make DIY face masks using natural ingredients.
For example, a mix of rice flour, green tea, and honey (optional) is a great option—adjust the quantities as needed. Start by cleansing your face with your preferred cleanser, then apply the mask, and follow up with moisturizer after rinsing it off. Doing at-home skincare can actually be beneficial. It helps you feel more refreshed, cleansed, and healthier as you incorporate it into your routine.
3. Take social media breaks
Social media can have a significant impact on your mental health if it’s not used as a positive influence. It’s a space full of strangers, many of whom you’ve never met. Unfortunately, social media often creates the illusion that money and material possessions are what give life meaning, when in reality, life is about so much more. We often become overly concerned with what others think of us, which can lead to negative self-reflection. Additionally, social media can be a major distraction, especially when we’re too focused on what others are doing instead of enjoying our own time.
It’s natural to seek acceptance, but sometimes that quest leaves us feeling rejected. Believe it or not, deactivating your social media accounts can be a valuable step for your mental well-being. While it can feel difficult to delete your accounts, especially if you want to stay connected with family and friends online, taking a break from the constant noise can help keep your mind stable. Once you step away, you may realize just how much better your life feels without the pressure of social media.
4. Learn how to cook
Don’t know how to cook? Start by watching tutorials daily. Try making your favorite recipes, and experiment with new dishes from scratch that satisfy your cravings. Learning to cook at home not only saves you time and money compared to eating out, but it also helps you build valuable skills. There’s nothing better than enjoying a home-cooked meal, especially when you share it with yourself.
5. Embrace discomfort
Travel solo. Embrace adventure, but stay cautious. Strike up a conversation with a stranger—you never know what they’re experiencing behind closed doors. Sometimes, a simple exchange or even a smile can make someone’s day. Get involved in new activities and step outside your comfort zone. Network and connect with people who share your aspirations and goals. Don’t shy away from taking bold risks; they’ll help you learn and grow throughout the journey.
6. Overcome bad habits
It’s tough to break free from bad habits that hinder your journey to better health. We all have habits we fall into, whether out of boredom or because they give us a temporary sense of comfort. But in reality, these habits are often harmful. Anything that doesn’t contribute to your personal growth or well-being is toxic and needs to be eliminated. It’s important to push yourself to break these habits in order to stay motivated and focused on your daily goals.
7. Celebrate yourself with quiet confidence
Compliment the things you love about yourself. Remind yourself that you’re strong, and that others’ opinions are not your concern. Acknowledge that while you’re not perfect, you are beautiful inside and out, no matter what. Affirm that you are just as worthy as anyone else. Empower yourself and trust that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Embrace the little imperfections that make you unique, because being different is what makes you special.
8. Try on new outfits and look your best
Try pairing new outfits with your favorite shoes and accessories, or mix in your favorite jeans. Step out of your comfort zone and experiment with a new fashion trend. You don’t need a shopping spree to refresh your wardrobe—simply go through your closet and create unique outfits with what you already own. Embracing this new style will help you feel more elegant and confident. Remember, it’s more important to dress to impress yourself than to worry about impressing others.
9. Be your own special kind of a kind
Take care of yourself and treat yourself to a coffee at a cozy café. Spend time in solitude—it’s peaceful and brings calm to your mind. Practice good hygiene, and write little positive notes or reminders for yourself every day. Buy yourself roses and treats. Embrace your personal journey, discovering what you like and dislike. Remember, you don’t want to lose yourself for someone else. Life isn’t just about finding someone who will want you in their life or love you forever.
10. Maintain an active lifestyle
Engage in activities like jogging in the park or at-home workouts to enhance your body image. Tidying your living space can foster a sense of order. Allocate 10-15 minutes stretching to relax your mind and body, aiding in stress reduction. Keeping your body active contributes to sustained productivity. Completing tasks at your own pace brings a sense of relief. Trust the process; the effort you invest is worthwhile.

Really nice practices.
