Affirmations to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others and Embrace Your Worth

Everyone has feelings of inadequacy at times and it’s perfectly normal, but that doesn’t mean that you have to feel that way forever. Your mind will play tricks on you from the enemy telling you that you’ll never amount to anything or that you’ll never be good enough no matter what you do.

Growing up, we’re always told that we’re not good enough and being compared to others nonstop that seem to “have it all” when no one knows what actually goes on behind the scenes. This negative environment typically causes low self-esteem in individuals that can be pretty destructive. Believe it or not, someone else’s success does not define them just like how failure does not define you.

People are going through different phases of life everyday. Some people are graduating from school, getting married, having kids, starting a career and whatnot, but everyone’s timeline is different. This society inevitably makes it seem like you have to accomplish something by a certain age and if you don’t, then you’re already behind. Who on earth has the right to tell anyone what they’re expected to do by the time they reach a certain age? This is your own life and you’re allowed to make as many mistakes in order to grow. It wouldn’t make sense if we’re expected to succeed without growing from our mistakes first. Being perfect is impossible while being imperfect is unlimited.

As each day passes by, we’re not getting any younger and time doesn’t stop for anyone. However, time is just an illusion and I’m not necessarily saying that you should waste your time doing nothing. With this one life given to us, we should all cultivate the life we want without being influenced by anyone around us.

Whenever you catch yourself fall into negative thoughts, follow these words of affirmations that will help you break free:

I will never not be good enough

No one can tell me how to live my life if I am the only one in charge of it

How people treat me is how they feel about themselves

People may know me, but no one will ever know me more than my own self

I am more blessed than I think I am

I’m not falling behind in life when I can still get there at my own pace

I am gifted by the glory of God who chose me to honor Him in everything I do

I’m unique, because no one in this world is exactly like me and there can only be one me

I’m stronger than before

I’m thankful for every good opportunity given to me

Failure is a part of growth

Every failure is one step closer to success

My age does not define me

I’m forever worthy

No one has it all no matter what social media portrays

I never stop learning everyday

I only fail if I give up

I’m the main character and author of my life

I’m proud of how far I’ve gotten throughout the years

No one is inferior nor superior

Why compare your life to others when we’re all meant to be different the moment we’re born? Someone may seem similar or “better” than you, but they will never be you. Before you compare your life to others, there may be someone out there that wishes they were living your life. Heck, even people that seemingly have more than you probably wishes that they had a more simple life. Quantity doesn’t always equal quality. Our minds are also built differently. For instance, some are fast learners and some are slow learners. Slow learners may take time to understand a few concepts, but they will eventually get there with the fast learners. Being a slow learner doesn’t make you dumber and being a fast learner doesn’t make you smarter. Life isn’t a race, because everyone is just trying to reach their destination in the end no matter how long it takes. So what’s the point of feeling rushed if the ending is still the same outcome? Therefore, it’s important to make every journey count.
