Exploring Seattle in 2023: A Complete Travel Recap

Hello everyone, it’s good to be back! First and foremost, I hope everyone is kicking off to a good start of the year. Happy 2024! I have some adventures that I’d love to share with you all about my most recent trip to Seattle back in August.

Let’s start off with the coffee shops in Seattle. Did I tell you how heavenly their coffee is in Seattle?! No wonder why they’re known for their most unique coffee. Almost everyone ordered the sesame cream coffee and tried the ube coffee. They were super delicious! It was honestly some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. It’s really hard to choose a favorite, because they were both filled with so much flavor. Since Starbucks originated from Seattle, we’ve also got the chance to visit their Starbucks Reserve and try their alcoholic coffee! Thankfully, my workplace won me Starbucks cards that helped us save some money.

On the first day, we checked out the Farmer’s Market and got to witness the famous fish throwing performance. We also got to see beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers and tried their famous chowder soup. After that, we explored the gum wall and it was quite a sight! Later, we hopped on a boat tour for about an hour, and let me tell you, the views were absolutely breathtaking!

We headed to the bar at the base of the spheres and indulged in some delicious appetizers. They were so refreshing, light, creamy, and oh-so-tasty! We tried potato chips topped with black caviar, chives, onions, and sour cream. It was the perfect combination, especially since I was dealing with a stomachache. The atmosphere was super relaxing too, just the kind of place where you can chill, unwind, and enjoy a drink.

I couldn’t forget the Space Needle! When you step into the elevator, you’ll get an awesome view of Seattle’s beautiful skyline up close and it’s really cool how the floor moves slowly when you’re standing still. It’s almost like you’re floating! To enjoy the view even more, I ordered a drink from the bar. We’ve got to explore the Chihuly glass museum inside the tower and walked around the garden as soon as you exit the entrance. Overall, the experience was super nice. I also love how people can do picnics near the Space Needle outside.

There was this awesome food walk event happening in Chinatown, and we got to try out a bunch of different food vendors. Personally, my absolute favorite was the Thai version of yakisoba noodles. They were just so flavorful and delicious! However, I enjoyed trying out all the different foods there. It was such a fun and tasty experience!

So, I don’t quite remember the names of the food vendors, but I can definitely share with you some of the tasty treats I tried. And a big shoutout to my cousin and his girlfriend for capturing these awesome pictures! They really did a great job!

After exploring Chinatown and rested for a little at my cousin’s place, we went to the Seahawks game! This was my first Seahawks game ever and we’ve managed to get some pretty dope seats. Not bad for a first timer right?! It was definitely worth it. Even though I’m not much of a sports person, I was rooting for the Seahawks over Dallas Cowboys for fun lol.

During halftime, we’ve stopped at food stalls that had chili wontons from Din Tai Fung and shrimp on a stick with a side of corn. They were actually pretty delicious and I also liked how the sauce was drizzled on the shrimp.

When it comes to nature, Seattle is on another level! The area around Seattle is packed with some seriously breathtaking waterfalls and pristine lakes. If you ever go hiking there, you’re in for a treat! I remember my first hike there, and let me tell you, it was a mix of excitement and fear. The elevation was intense, but the views at the end were absolutely worth it. They had gloves and ropes to help you climb to the top, but you had to hold on tight and never look down. Would I risk my life again for those jaw-dropping views? Absolutely, without a doubt!

I’m a huge lover of matcha and had to check out this matcha cafe! I ordered the strawberry matcha while one of us ordered the lavender matcha in the picture below. Honestly, the drink didn’t quite hit the spot for me, but the place was still super aesthetic and cute to hangout at. Maybe next time I’ll come back and try one of their signature drinks. Can’t wait to see if those will be more to my liking!

The west coast is known for having incredibly fresh sushi! When I was there, I went to this amazing sushi restaurant and tried their signature hand rolls. It was such a unique experience because the rolls were made in a way that they almost felt like mini sushi sandwiches. I absolutely loved it! And guess what? Everyone else at the table loved it too, so much that we ended up ordering caviar to go with it. Let me tell you, the caviar took it to a whole new level of deliciousness! So, if you’re a sushi lover like me, I highly recommend checking out this place. You won’t be disappointed!

As a Kansas native, Seattle really sparked me with its beauty and diversity that you can’t always find somewhere! On our final day, we went to this amazing Japanese garden and it was gorgeous. There was a cute little pond filled with all sorts of Japanese plants and flowers. The garden itself wasn’t huge, but it was still very enjoyable and you could also walk across this adorable little bridge. I believe that the best time to go is during fall or Sakura season. If you’re a weeb, you might just feel like you’re living in an anime!

Before our flight back home at midnight, we decided to go to the rooftop of my cousin’s apartment to snap some awesome pics and soak in the incredible skyline. I totally understand wanting to capture and cherish that view as much as we can. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll have a view like that too!

Well this pretty much sums up the rest of my adventures in Seattle. I already miss it, but I’ll definitely be back! I’ve had so much fun scootering around the city and exploring like a local. Personally, I think it’s more fun to explore like a local than a tourist! However, everyone has their own preferences when it comes to traveling.

Seattle will always have my heart and I can’t wait for my next adventures as I continue to share my journey with you all! And remember, life is too short so travel as much and as far as you can.
